As of Friday I had made up my mind  who I was going to go as to the party. As it turned out comfort won over everything I was going to go as Callie from Grey's Anatomy.

Since there were going to be single men there my pick up line was going to be want to play doctor? Okay not really, but less then 24 hours before the party I I changed my mind and I decided to go as a Geisha! I was over at my friend Dana's house and when I told her I was going to go as Callie she said you should go as a geisha and pulled out this kimono from out of nowhere! Seriously it was like Mary Poppins.

I didn't quite turn out looking just like Ziyi Zhang but it was worth a shot.

Okay so I didn't look a thing like her but I tried!

Crunch Time

The party is in three days and I still don't know who I'm going to be!  Naomi Cambell's hat has been thrown into the ring as a possibility. I can wear white and have a plastic cell phone and I can throw it at people. There might be slight flaw in that I'm 5'3" and she is 6' and she probably weighs the size of one of my legs. Seriously it's down to the wire if you have ANY suggestions please let me know!

Classic Melissa

I was torn between naming this entry Goodbye To You or Classic Melissa. Although my Classic Melissa post are usually about me doing something stupid this post has a definite Classic Melissa feel to it. What am I writing about today is The WB network.Tonight was the last night of the network that gave us such classics as Dawson's Creek, Gilmore Girls and don't even get me started on Felicity! I loved this network. I freely admit that I watched every season of Dawson's Creek and Felicity. Even though I needed a dictionary to follow Dawson's Creek it was worth it to see the sexual tension play out on screen between Dawson, Joey, Pacey and Jen.  Felicity actually started when I was a freshman in college so it was almost as if I was Felicity... well minus Noel and Ben fighting over me but those were minor details. I am still obsessed with Gilmore Girls but really what girl isn't? I also am a firm believer that if My So Called Life was on the WB it would never have gotten canceled and we would have finally seen Angela Chase give it up to Jordan Catalano.

Not to mention the music that these shows had in them provided the perfect soundtrack to my high school teenage angst and college gosh I hope I find myself years.

I actually remember a time when I was driving and I saw a billboard and it has all these people on it and it said The Palace. I immediately thought "Oh maybe this is going to be a new WB show!" Upon driving closer I noticed that The Palace was actually a new strip club opening up downtown. Needless to say I was bummed, and then I felt complete stupid because I was looking forward to a WB show! What a loser.

When you think about it a lot of actors got their start on this network or just had a series: Katie Holmes, Scott Speedman, Keri Russell, Barry Watson, Sarah Michelle Geller, Michelle Willams, Jamie Foxx, Selma Blair, Amanda Peet, Jessica Biel and so many others.   

This evening they played the pilot episodes of Felicity, Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Dawson's Creek. Although I never watched Angel or Buffy but I realize they have to pay homage to these teenage shows too. I am not going to lie I have been made fun of by many of friends for watching The WB but I still don't care. Goodbye WB you treated me well, and you can bet your ass I will be tuning into The CW!

It Was The Best of Times, It Was The Worst of Times

I have been trying to write this post since Tuesday! I would get the title and then a three sentences and then nothing! So much information to tell you Internet and I have writers block! I am not witty at all but there has been enough suspense so I'm just going to lay down the facts.

I recently wrote a post about having to make a decision about moving to Austin or staying here in San Antonio. Yesterday I accepted a job offer from one of the best realty companies in the nation and it is based here in San Antonio. A lot of thought, time, prayer and pretty much asking everyone one I know what they think I should do I came to the conclusion of staying in San Antonio.   After six months I can transfer anywhere I want in the state of Texas as well as anywhere in the nation provided I get a real estate license in that state. So it's a good thing but also a bad thing, I will be living with my parents for another six months. SIX MONTHS! Help me! Actually I think of it as a means to an end and mostly I am doing this because my financial advisor told me I needed to. Apparently my nest egg that I have isn't big enough for my lifestyle which I have become accustom to. I was lofty in my goals but when you are in real estate and moving to a new city that means you could not have a pay check for about 6 months which means you better have enough income to live off of for six months. Which I do not. Sucks.

In other news I am getting my car back after having to drive this toy around. For the past three weeks I have felt like I was driving a cross between a clown car and an ambulance. Although since my car is about 50 miles from 100,000 miles I really want to get a new car. This one has caught my fancy. And this one. Oh and this one too.

Also this past weekend I was at the lake (yes again) and it was brought to my attention that  my college homecoming is about a month away! Which means I have about five weeks to lose 20 pounds. I will be seeing old boyfriends old crushes and old friends so you know I have to look good, right? On Sunday Jenny and I devised a plan to lose weight. You see we have a downfall called Sonic and Chili's. We ALWAYS want to go and eat out. If you were to look at my emails I probably have a hundred with just the word dinner and a question mark. A plan was set into action and Sunday was our last meal and I had a chicken friend steak! When I am going to eat bad its going to be BAD. Now when Jenny or I want to go out to dinner or to just eat bad we have a full proof plan! When she calls me for support I have to tell her she is a fat ass and when I call her she tells me I am to fat to go out and it is probably why I am single.* We are all about the tough love. So far I have been good and working out everyday but the weekend starts tomorrow and I'm meeting old friends at night and a margarita might be calling my name.

 

* By no means do I mean that because people are fat that is why they are single or anything like that, it really is just what needs to be said to me to get my butt into gear.
