when you see a movie on TV, even though you own the same movie on DVD, it's so much better on TV

I don't know if it is better, but why do we watch movies on TV, when we own them and never (or hardly) ever watch them?

I always think, "This is stupid. I could watch the one I own with no commercials." But then I end up sitting there watching Steel Magnolias with commercials for the 9 millionth time.
